

Harold R. Kokal (also known as Harry) of Schaumburg, Illinois passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 85. He was born on March 8, 1941, in Eveleth, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school through Jr. College. He then attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a Masters in Metallurgical Engineering. He worked for U. S. Steel for 18 years and then for Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, which, after several changes, became Arcelor-Mittal Steel Company. He is survived by Lucy, his wife of 63 years, and by two children—Sharon (Mark) Mirsky of Bartlett, IL and Robert Kokal of Flower Mound, TX. There are also 5 grandchildren: Joseph and Jessica Mirsky and Blake, Beckett, and Kennedy Kokal.
Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” service in Friendship Hall of Encore Village in Schaumburg at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8.
