

In 1966, Harold married his beloved wife Margaret Henkle, and together, they raised five children: Johnny (Julyn) Schmidt, Kimberlee (Daniel) Mianulli, Dawn (Timothy) Hagn, Anthony (Barbara) Henkle, and Catherine (Anthony) Koszalka. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and his family was the cornerstone of his life.
Harold was predeceased by his mother and father, Harold and Catherine Henkle, his mother-in-law Lucille Caesar (Hogan), cherished wife Margaret, and dear daughter Kimberlee (Daniel) Mianulli. He is survived by his brothers, William (Karen) and Michael (Tammy), stepson Jonathan (Julyn) Schmidt, Dawn (Timothy) Hagn, Anthony (Barbara) Henkle and Catherine (Anthony) Koszalka, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harold served as a beacon of hope and strong supporter of his “second family”, the Alcoholics Anonymous community. The Alcoholics Anonymous community also served as a second cornerstone in Harold’s life and for 44 years, Harold held an unwavering commitment to sobriety. His compassionate sponsorship touched the lives of countless individuals, guiding them towards healing and renewal. His legacy of kindness, resilience, and support will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to call him friend, sponsor, mentor, and family member. While deeply missed, his impact will continue to inspire generations to come.
Harold proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged May 14th, 1962 and thereafter enjoyed a successful career in the professional cleaning services industry.
Harold wished for us to come together to celebrate his rich and full life with friends and loved ones. We request all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating his beautiful life on Sunday April 7th, from 12-4pm at Prairie Lakes Community Center located at 515 E Thacker St, Des Plaines, IL, 60016.
