Frank Armour Roddy of Rockford, Illinois passed away on May 13, 2023 at the age 92.
He was born on January 12, 1931 in Johnstone Scotland, where he grew up. Frank served as a proud member of the British Navy in his early 20’s.
After meeting the love of his life, Margaret Brandon in Scotland, they emigrated to the U.S. in 1956, marrying in Rockford, Illinois in 1958.
Frank was a Personnel Manager among other professions and worked for Barber Colman for almost 30 years.
Frank was passionate about Lawn Bowling and traveled to many beautiful venues around the country competing and winning many tournaments and enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow lawn bowlers.
Frank was also very active in the Robert Burns Society of Rockford for many decades and served as President. He performed as Master of Ceremonies for countless Burns Banquets and singing beloved Scottish tunes to the delight of his audiences.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Janet (née McGinn) and James Roddy.
Brothers James (Elizabeth) Roddy, Jackie (Cathie) Roddy and sister Isobel (Hector) Adam.
Brothers in law John (Maria) Devine and Hector (Isobel) Adam.
Frank was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
Frank is survived by his wife Margaret Pinion Roddy and daughters Angela (James) Weber and Pamela (Scott) Davis.
Granddaughters Quinn and Skye Davis, and sister Maria (John) Devine as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
Frank is also survived by two daughters, Maureen and Isabelle from a previous marriage in Scotland.
The family would like to thank the staff of OSF St. Anthony’s hospital and OSF Hospice for their care and compassion in Frank’s final days.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
