

Albert L. Mandro, 86, died early Sunday morning December 17, 2023, at Friendship Village located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Albert’s life was a gift to everyone who met him, and a treasure to his beloved family and friends. Albert was a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law and grandfather.
Albert is survived by his second wife, Mary Lou (Gutierrez), and by her children: Mary Lou’s daughter, Chris Ann, her husband Jesse Delgado: their children Jesse Leo, Jacob and Jayden. Mary Lou’s son, Christopher Mendoza: his children Samson, Leo and Rocco M. Craig. Albert is also survived by his son from his first marriage, Leonard Mandro, and his wife Carole and their children: Jon Mandro, U.S.M.C, and Joseph Mandro, U.S.M.C.
Albert is also survived by his sister, Antoinette, and her husband, Robert Franzen (Florida); and brother, Daniel Mandro and his wife, Cheryl (Tennessee). Albert is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Albert is preceded in death by his beloved first wife Dorothy (Davis) Mandro (d. 1990). Albert’s father – Albert J. Mandro (d. 1984) and Mother – Genevieve (Kusiak) Mandro (d.1985).
Albert was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 8, 1937. He married Mary Lou on January 18, 1992. He was a devoted Christian and participated in Bible studies every week. He shared his experiences and knowledge with those who needed encouragement. He was fondly called the “Hug Monster” because he loved to give hugs in church. He was a faithful member of the Chicago Church of Christ for over 30 years.
His occupation was manager/buyer for equipment for a personal grooming products company.
Albert was easy to talk to, and he made friends easily. He loved bringing Christ’s love to others through action and example. Albert loved to play bingo and card games, like Hand & Foot. He was a history buff who loved military documentaries. Albert enjoyed going to the movies and car shows. He collected coins and DVDs. He loved growing vegetables, flowers, and a huge peach tree. He volunteered at the Palatine Park District. Albert did his best to be available to family and friends. He and his wife loved to dance the Polka, as well as ballroom dancing. His favorite DVD album was by Anne Murray entitled, “What a Wonderful World,” an Inspirational Classic. He enjoyed singing every week in a Friendship Village “Hymn Sing.”
Albert will be greatly missed. A memorial service in his honor will be conducted before the end of January 2024. No service is scheduled at this time. You will receive a notification when the memorial service is planned.
