He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 19, 1945.
Ned "Skip" grew up in Flourtown, PA. He graduated in 1963 from Springfield High School and attended two years of college.
He enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War and was severely wounded by a bomb blast and lost his right arm and, with other wounds, he was 100% disabled. Ned Never married. He moved to New Mexico, and then eventually settled in the Tahoe/Reno area. He started buying and selling land in the area in mid 1970’s. He made large donations to various local organizations to help others in need, and homeless and including animals. He led a life of giving and helping.
Ned’s transportation was a bicycle- specially made with all the gears on the left handlebar. He loved riding all over the West, especially the Sierra Mountains! Bike riding was his passion. He was the one armed bicycle rider in Reno.
Ned was a minimalist. Everything he owned fit into his backpack, except his bike. He lived his last 1 1/2 years in Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Sparks NV. He sent a letter to his sister, Sue, a few days before he died and said "He had a good life."
Ned’s ashes will be scattered at Rainbow Bridge Hwy 40 in California, overlooking Donner Lake near Truckee, CA. One of his favorite bike riding areas!

Ned is survived by his sister, Sue Worstell of CA and brother, Bill Kennan of NJ.
