We will cherish memories of our June. She was a loving caregiver for her family, friends, and fellow workers. Her father died when she was four-years-old, and she became the acting mother for her younger sisters, Norma and Patsy Rodgers, with the help of a friend of the family. Her mother then worked full time to support the family.
They lived in Nashville, Tennessee, until June was thirteen and had completed 8th grade. She was always a prolific reader and an excellent student. She carried a book with her wherever she went. The nearby Carnegie Library served her well. Spelling came easy for June, and she won a Spelling Contest in Nashville.
In 1952, they moved the family to Reno, Nevada, and June became a freshman at Reno High School. She made good friends there, who remained her friends until her passing. She also met her first husband, Derral Faulstich, at Reno High. She and Derral had four children: Gail (Laura), Mark (Chrissy), John (Christine), and Jeff (Kaydee). June enjoyed square dancing, camping with their children, and southern cooking. She was an expert cook and made it look simple to prepare scrumptious meals.
June worked as a Bookkeeper for several businesses and government agencies in Reno, including the Security National Bank, the Faulstich businesses, the Peppermill, Wendell Norris Interiors, and Nevada State Vocational Rehabilitation.
She was in tune with children. Her nieces still talk about her getting up very early in the morning and fixing chocolate milk shakes for them, when they stayed overnight with the Faulstich family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren even more than they realized. We could always rely on June if we needed to talk with someone who would understand. She was available if we needed a babysitter or help with other issues.
She has always surrounded us with love and music, singing in the kitchen, car, church, anywhere the mood struck. Her laughter and caring have been a constant throughout our lives with her and the gifts she gave to us cannot be underestimated.
We will hold her close to our hearts with wishes for Peace Within, as she begins this next Journey through the great Mystery.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Sparks United Methodist Church on July 18, 2026 at 11 am. 1231 Pyramid Way, Sparks, NV. Please join us in this celebration and wear as much color as you like! Reception to follow at the hall.
