Daryl Alan Van Veldhuizen, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 19th, 2023. He was born on April 22nd, 1970, in Lodi, California, and his journey through life was filled with unwavering dedication, kindness, and an unyielding spirit.
Daryl graduated from Tokay High School in 1989 & became a skilled forklift operator. His entrepreneurial spirit drove him to establish a successful moving and landscaping businesses. Later, Daryl relocated to the Reno, NV area, where he continued to work as a furniture delivery expert and obtained his CDL.
One of Daryl's greatest achievements was his journey to sobriety. For two decades, he was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, during which he stayed clean and sober. Daryl's compassionate heart extended beyond his personal journey; he opened his home to countless recovering addicts and alcoholics, offering them refuge and opportunities for employments through his own business.
In the summer of 2004, destiny brought Daryl into the life of his soulmate, Pam Van Veldhuizen (McMurtrie). Their love blossomed, and on AUgust 15th, 2013, they exchanged vows, embarking together on life's beautiful journey. Daryl and Pam's bond was forged from the purest love, humor, and mutual support. Daryl was a man of many passions and interests. He found solace in the great outdoors, cherishing moments spent camping, fishing, and kayaking. Most of all he enjoyed restoring his Chevy pickup & dedicated countless hours to the restoration and maintenance of it.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Van Veldhuizen (McMurtrie); his mother, Sandy Whitaker; his father, Gary Van Veldhuizen; his brothers, Bryan Van Veldhuizen and Mike Richardson (Britney); and his sons, Nathan McMurtrie (Monica) and Brandon McMurtrie, Daryl's impact on their lives will remain an eternal source of strength and hope.
A memorial service to celebrate Daryl's life will be held on September 24th, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Eagles Lodge in Lodi. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
Daryl's legacy will forever stand as a testament to his humor, compassion, and unyielding spirit, serving as a constant reminder of the profound impact of the ability to change lives through empathy & compassion. While his absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled, his spirit will eternally radiate within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
