Her passing was due to complications from a major stroke after a three-year battle with dementia. She was 79 years old. Even in her final days, Charlotte exemplified kindness, grace, compassion, and a deep love for her family and friends. Her loss has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her family.
Charlotte was the beloved daughter of Carroll Allen Todd and Dorothy Gayle Rogers and was one of five siblings. She shared a close bond with her brothers, Allen and Louis, and her sisters, Shirley and Dorothy. Her youngest sister and last surviving sibling, is Dorothy.
Family was the cornerstone of Charlotte’s life. She was married twice: first to John Selander and later to Richard Jones, who passed away in February 2023. Charlotte was a loving mother to her two children, Steven Scott and Sandra Leigh, and a cherished stepmother to Richard's two children, Gary Richard and Christine Sandra. She adored her nine grandchildren and took immense pride in her five great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Professionally, Charlotte had a remarkable career at Hewlett Packard, where she worked for over 20 years, first as a manager in computer networking and later as a consultant. She also pursued education at West Valley Community College and San Jose State University.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Charlotte was a long-time member of the Sunnyvale-Saratoga Presbyterian Church. In San Diego, she actively volunteered with organizations such as The Country Friends and The Aviara Women’s Group.
Charlotte embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying skiing, golf, tennis, travel, music, theatre, and gardening. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved to decorate beautifully to express her festive spirit. She was known for her elegance, kindness, empathy, and nurturing nature.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll Allen Todd and Dorothy Gayle Rogers; her brothers, Allen and Louis Todd; her sister, Shirley Brauer; and her husband, Richard Jones. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Todd, as well as her children Gary, Christine, Steven, and Sandra, who will forever cherish the love she brought into their lives.
Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her husband Richard at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, California. A service and celebration of her life will be held in 2025, with more information to follow.
