Anita was born in Pacoima, California on September 4, 1938 to her loving parents, Alan F. And Mary L. Mitchell and brother Jimmy.
At age 5 Anita and her family moved to Reno, Nevada. At age 12 Anita lost her brother to leukemia, he was 14.
Anita then moved from Sparks, Nevada in 1974 to Trinidad, California with her family to help her parents with managing their trailer park “Midway Trailer Park”. While there her son, Scott Tomlinson, at 14 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1977. Her parents sold Midway Trailer Park and moved to Fresno, California to be close to the needed hospitals for Scott. Scott passed away on December 23, 1980.
Anita went to work at Catholic Social Services in Fresno in 1981, she loved helping people. There she met her future husband, Robert Lytle.
She left her job in 1999 and they moved to Fernley, Nevada, had a home built and were married on February 14, 2000. They had 4 wonderful years together until Robert’s passing in 2004.
Anita made friends easily and kept herself busy with The American Legion, Reno High School reunions, Red Hats group, Potluck Bunko/ Dominos/and card game groups, no one ever left hungry! She loved her groups of friends. She enjoyed playing Bingo and her favorite slot machines.
One of Anita’s favorite sayings became “ One day at a time” which she did.
Anita is survived by her daughters, Debra Rademann (Terry), Cindy Morris (Jeff) and Page Rockwell; her cousin, Patricia Gibson; her best friend for over 80 years, Betty Bailey; her grandchildren: Adam Presley, Lisa Vleming (Aaron), Stacy Morris, Brittany Rockwell and Zack Rockwell (Megan); her great-grandchildren: Carmen Vleming, Aaron Jr. Vleming, Julynn Presley, Uriah Morris, Neiko Morris, Owen Hopkins, Easton Rockwell and Riverlynn Rockwell; and her great-great-grandchildren, Myria Lopez and Brooks Ward. Her great-great-grandchildren were birthday gifts to her, they were both born this last September.
Graveside service will be held on February 14, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley where Anita and Robert will be reunited for eternity. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Ranch Golf Course from 12:00 to 2:00, also in Fernley.
