Born and raised in Oceanside, Long Island, New York, Bill possessed an early commitment to duty and service. As a young man, he stepped forward to serve his country in the United States Army, earning a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps. His military training laid the foundation for a distinguished career in the telecommunications industry that spanned more than 35 years.
Among his many professional accomplishments, Bill was most proud of his pivotal work in the wake of September 11, 2001. In the crucial days following the attacks, Bill and his dedicated team worked tirelessly under immense pressure to restore vital communication lines to Lower Manhattan and Wall Street, operating out of a facility heavily damaged by the collapse of the towers. His calm resolve, technical expertise, and quiet leadership during one of the nation’s darkest moments served as an enduring testament to his character.
For the past twenty years, Bill made his home in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he rooted himself deeply in faith and fellowship. An active and devoted member of Richland Creek Community Church, Bill served faithfully as a Deacon and was an integral pillar of the men’s Bible Study group, offering steady guidance, mentorship, and friendship to all who crossed his path.
Above all his accomplishments, Bill’s greatest devotion was to the family who adored him. As a loving husband to Linda, he offered unwavering loyalty, deep friendship, and gentle kindness across their 43 years together. He was a proud, supportive father to Chris and Ryan, instilling in them the quiet strength, humor, and integrity that defined his own life. To his sisters, Maryann and Kathy, he was a caring and steadfast brother whose lifelong bond remained a foundational comfort throughout his days.
Known affectionately to his closest family as "Pop"—a title gifted to him by his eldest grandson, Matthew, and worn with immense pride alongside Sophia and Finnegan—he was an extraordinary man whose generosity knew no bounds. Pop was always the first to offer help, the first to show up, and ready with a warm word for anyone in need. His genuine love, steady faith, and warmth filled every room and will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his sons, Chris and his wife, Carole, and Ryan and his wife, Katie; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia, and Finnigan; his dear sisters, Maryann and Kathy; and a close circle of extended family, church brothers, and lifelong friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Richland Creek Community Church, 3229 Burlington Mills Road, Wake Forest, NC 27587, on November 9, 2026, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00-10:50 am.
