He was the consummate father and lived passionately for the love of Jesus Christ and his beloved family. He leaves behind an incredible legacy with many cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Michael R. Tano and his wife Kelly of Waxhaw, NC, his daughter Cynthia T. Shriner and her husband Bob of Hillsborough, NC, and his daughter Melody T. Kuntzleman and her husband Tom of Belleville, MI. His loving legacy includes ten grandchildren, their significant others, and two cherished great-grandchildren (his two Amigos) with a third on the way. He is also survived by two siblings, Raul Tano of Miami, FL and Raquel Manning-Tano of Greenville, NC, along with many nieces and nephews. He touched the lives of countless others as a coach, mentor, friend, and father-figure.
A memorial service will take place on June 13, 2026 at 11AM. The service will be held at CrossLink Church, 660 Cornelius Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
The family would like to thank the team of doctors and caregivers at UNC Hospital - Hillsborough for the passionate care that they gave during his stay there.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his name. The care and well-being of children was a cause that he supported passionately.
