Karl was always a presence. He took up space both literally and figuratively. He loved to tell a good story or make you feel uncomfortable with a really inappropriate joke. The irony of such an active man getting a diagnosis that left him stranded in bed was not lost on anyone who knew him. In his prime Karl enjoyed everything from basketball to softball to golf. But his absolute favorite activity was fishing on a lake in the Midwest, surviving off fresh caught perch and walleye, canned vegetables and cigars!
One never knows how they will handle being told your body will fail. He tried hard for a lot of years to manage his health and strength but the universe had different plans. No one of us lives a perfect life but we love our families despite our imperfect moments.
Karl will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Debra. His daughters, Jessica and her husband, Mike, and Kari and her children, Baxter and Deklyn, will share stories of Karl’s debauchery for years to come.
May the Packers always win, Pink Floyd always be blasting and your meals be perfectly hot wherever your soul rests.
