It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Judith A. Salone of Raleigh, North Carolina, who passed away on April 21, 2026; at the age of 83, leaving to mourn are her husband, her family and her friends. Her spirit and legacy will live on in the memories of those she touched.
Judy was a teacher, technical instructor, gadget guru, problem solver, on-line bargain hunter and shopper, and a news junkie. She was an avid crafter with her cohort in crime, daughter Linda. She loved to travel and take road trips to the mountains, Florida, and to all parts of the Northeast and beyond. She was a huge Carolina Hurricanes and ‘everything Pittsburgh’ fan, especially the Steelers. She loved to watch all kinds of sports: golf, tennis, football, hockey, and March Madness. Judy loved celebrating birthdays and the holidays; some of her favorites being Thanksgiving with Croquettes, presents and the neon lit tree at Christmas, and flying our flags on Memorial Day and Fourth of July. She especially treasured her family and all of the newest activities with her great-grands, and she cherished her friendships deeply! All of the many groups she was a part of and participated in brought her great joy and happiness.
Judy lived with and suffered from the effects of pulmonary fibrosis for many years and later battled lung cancer. She fought both with tremendous bravery and courage. Judy was loved and will be missed by all of her dear friends who were countless, and you know who you are!
Judy leaves to remember her, her husband of 32 years, Paul Salone of Raleigh, NC; her son, Michael Fross (Johnna) of Emerald Isle, NC; and her daughter, Linda Blackmon (Randall) of Cambridge, MD. She also leaves behind, with fond memories, her grandchildren, Morgan Fross (Ben), Sidney Fross, Katie Blackmon, Gracie Blackmon Ruark (Luke) and John Fross, and great grandchildren, Douglas and Logan Ruark.
Judy was predeceased by her son, Greg Fross; her brother, Jim Eckels; and her parents, John and Jean Eckels.
The family would like to thank Transitions Life Care Hospice, specifically Robin, Kim, Ty, and Jennifer, et al, who assisted us with the transition from home to hospice. You all are amazing caregivers and medical professionals! Thank you again.
