Ellen "Mickey" Kennedy Bast

She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth Mary Carr Kennedy and Francis Kennedy, and brother Dennis Kennedy.

She is survived by her loving husband, David W. Bast Sr.; 2 daughters, Christine Alliet and husband Bob, of Newport News, VA, and Laurie Klatt and husband, Scott of Penfield, NY; son, David William Bast Jr. and wife Renee of Penfield, NY; grandchildren, Brandon Alliet and wife Caitlin, Stephanie Alliet, Joshua, Jared and Jordan Klatt, and Jack Bast; great granddaughters, Ryanne and Kit Alliet; sister, Barbara Kennedy Klein: sisters-in-law, Karen Leverich and husband Gary, and Mary Ann Kennedy; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mickey leaves many caring and wonderful friends.

Mickey attended Frances de Sales High School in Utica, NY and LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, where she met her husband of 61 years. She always rooted for the Cleveland Browns with her husband. She was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Fuquay Varina, NC and a certified catechist, where she taught at their school of religion for many years. In Raleigh, she worked for several waste companies in sales.

Mickey was a charter member and Past Regents of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court# 2629, St. Bernadette, and a member of the Silver and Gold Senior Citizen Club in Fuquay Varina. She served as past president and charter member of South Johnson Optimist Club in Benson, NC.

She loved cheerleading where she cheered, coached, and judged for many years. She was happiest working in her gardens, doing puzzles, and traveling

A memorial service will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1005 Wilbon Road, Holly Springs, NC on July 21, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the church columbarium immediately afterward.
