Born in Voorheesville, New York, Donald, fondly known as “Brud” and “Poppy”, spent many fulfilling years living in Liverpool, New York, and Clearwater, Florida, before moving to Foxfire, North Carolina, to live with his daughter.
Donald attended Cornell University before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he built a dedicated career, working for General Electric and Niagara Mohawk until his well-earned retirement in 1998.
A man of deep faith, Donald was a devout Catholic whose life was defined by service to others. He was a committed blood donor for over 60 years and dedicated decades of his life to coaching youth baseball. He also umpired high school baseball throughout Onondaga County, NY. He famously led multiple Babe Ruth teams to prominent tournaments, earning immense love and respect within the county baseball community. He served as a deeply admired role model to countless young men over the years. In his free time, he also enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, and staying actively involved in community events throughout his retirement in Clearwater.
Above all, Donald's greatest passion was his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Ada and Adelbert Livingston; his beloved wife, Marlea J. Livingston; and his brothers-in-law, Allan Sholtes, Kenneth Guyer, and Rod Cornell.
His loving legacy lives on through his children, Donald C. Livingston, Jr. (Melodie), Kelley M. Brickman (Scott), and Cheryl Livingston Carter (Bruce); his sisters, Joanne Sholtes, Diane Guyer, and Lila Rae Cornell; his cherished grandchildren, Meaghen Catlin (Aaron), Gabrielle Amato, Nicholas Amato, Rachel Brickman, Joshua Brickman, Kali Livingston, and Mackenzie Livingston; his great-grandson, Eli Catlin; and several dear nieces and nephews. He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren for his favorite, comforting reassurances: "Guess what? I love you," and "I love you more."
Donald has been cremated according to his wishes. A memorial service celebrating his long and beautiful life will be held in the spring of 2027 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Liverpool, New York.
