He was born on May 26, 1959 in Orange, California; the son of the late Noel and Patricia Christensen Nilsson. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Karen, and nephew, Paul.
After graduating from Cal State Long Beach in Computer Science, Dale took a chance on a move to Florida for a job with IBM. There he met his future wife, Jackie Feydt. While computer software was his job, he never lost his love of art as a hobby; continuing to paint and create pottery artwork throughout his life that still inspires.
As his IBM responsibilities changed with their move to North Carolina, Dale authored several Software Development books that were well known in the late 1990s. He also traveled as he worked with IBM customers and built many long term friendships around the world. In addition, as his love for and skill in golf grew, he was able to play many world courses others only dream of.
The true love of Dale’s life was the family he built with Jackie. He inspired his sons, Karl, Erik (daughter-in-law, Jackie), and Nikolaus, with his honesty, work ethic, and love. His joy grew even greater when granddaughter, Elowyn, was born. Dale’s face lit up, even in illness, when Elowyn laughed and waved at him.
Dale also leaves behind an extended family; sisters, Dawn and Robin; brother, Kevin; cousin, Tim; and brother in law, Larry; along with a niece and nephews, Maggie, Andrew, Kenneth, Phillip, and Austin; as well as cousins in Sweden and Finland. His many golf friends will entertain each other during rounds of golf with stories about ‘The Terminator’.
We will miss him more that we can say; but he lives on in the heart of our family and the numerous friends whose lives he touched in many ways.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will take place on Wednesday, June 24th from 4pm until 7pm at the Devils Ridge Golf Club; 5107 Linksland Drive, Holly Springs, NC 27540. Golf attire is encouraged and we will share memories and dinner together.
