Charles Rickey Mims

Charles Rickey Mims, 81, of Durham, NC, passed away on July 21, 2024. Born on January 19, 1943, in Durham, NC, he was the cherished son of the late Woodrow and Grace Mims. Rick was a devoted husband to his late wife, Polly Mims, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Rick graduated from Durham High School before advancing his education at Wake Forest University. He embarked on a fulfilling career as a Real Estate Agent and Appraiser, and also worked as a Greenskeeper, sharing his love for the outdoors with the community.

Known for his sense of humor and dedication to friendship, Rick enjoyed watching sports, particularly UNC Tarheels games, and cherished sitting in the sunshine visiting with friends. His warm presence and jovial nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his daughters, Melisa Barbee (Wayne) and Shannon Mims; granddaughter, Jessica Hicks (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Grayson and Alana Hicks; and several nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Mims; son, Rickey Mims Jr.; brother, Winston Gullie; and his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of both Rick and his wife Polly.

Rick's life will be celebrated and remembered for the impact he had on his family and friends.

Neptune Society-Raleigh, NC, is assisting the family during this time.
