Carole Ann Songer

Carole Ann (McQuade) Songer, age 78 of Cary, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Carole was born to David James and Alice Madeline (Theisen) McQuade in Mount Clemons, MI on December 15, 1946. She was raised in Monterey Park, CA and was a graduate of Mark Keppel High School, class of 1965. Carole married her high school sweetheart, Gary Harvey in May of 1967. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, 1992.

Carole loved traveling, painting, garden design and most importantly, spending time with family. She had a love of ancient history leading her to travel to Egypt & Peru. Along with her lifelong friends, Sheila & Leslie, she traveled to Antarctica enjoying everything penguins. One of her greatest joys was welcoming her great granddaughter, Maddy B., who was born within days of her own birthday.

Carole is survived by her 3 daughters: Diana (John) Gandy, Laura (Bill) Egeln, and Malinda (Mike) Teague, 6 grandchildren: Kristi (Svilen) Batchkarova, Jimmy (Mackenzie) Gandy, Emily and Molly Egeln, and Reagan and Ian Teague, 1 great granddaughter Madeleine Batchkarova. She is also survived by her sister, Judith McQuade, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Sheila & Leslie. Carole was predeceased by her husband Gary, her parents David & Alice and brother Gerald McQuade.

Carole’s ashes will be interred at the Riverside National Cemetery in California.
