Brian William Bergemann

Brian William Bergemann of Angier, North Carolina passed away on the 19th of August 2024 at 80 years of age. He was born on the 27th of February 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

He was a very successful pole vaulter which drove him to pursue physical education at the University of Wisconsin where he received a bachelor’s degree in 1967. He then graduated from the University of Maryland in 1972 with a master’s degree in physiology and received a PhD in biomechanics from Penn State University in 1974.

Brian worked as a physical therapist for a portion of his life and later became a professor in biomechanics and exercise science. He started his teaching career at Warner Pacific College in Oregon and finished his career teaching biomechanics and exercise science at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina.

He greatly enjoyed being a part of his children’s endeavors throughout his life and loved to tell anyone and everyone about his children’s accomplishments.

He was a member of Grace Community Church in Angier, NC, and spent the latter years of his life attending online services for Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bergemann, his mother, Margaret Bergemann; his brother Norm Bergemann; and his wife Sandra “Sandy” Bergemann.

He is survived by his brother Robert “Bob” Bergemann, his 5 children: Chris Bergemann, Jennifer Bergstrom, Lucas “Luke” Bergemann, Eric Bergemann, and Trisha Whitehead as well as 9 grandchildren: Aiden and Piper Bergstrom; Kalea, Londyn, and Ace Bergemann; Caitlin, Hayley, and Joy Bergemann; and Hallie Whitehead.

The family would like to thank Emerald Health for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. We would also like to offer a special thanks especially to Kerin Gohman for opening her whole heart and providing such wonderful care and support throughout the final years of his life. The family couldn’t have done it all without you! You provided all the support he needed (both physical and emotional) and he looked forward to seeing you every day.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Mid-Way Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC on September 7th 12:00 pm. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
