Born in Washington D.C. on July 1, 1939, Joan dedicated her career to serving her country as a federal employee and civil servant. Her government career began as a civilian with the US Navy in Nassau, Bahamas. Upon retirement, she held the position of Program Analyst for the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. Joan's career took her around the globe, where her influence and friendships still remain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Jean Lynch and Paul Lynch Sr., and her brothers Paul Jr. and Mike. She is survived by her brother Jerry (Jeanne) and sister-in-law Debbie; her children Scott (Mary), Janice (Chuck), Gregory, and Brian (Sakura); and her grandchildren: Duran, Juno, and Megan.
Following her professional life, Joan retired to Flagler Beach, FL, where she was active in community and social events for many years. She could be found on her front porch visiting with neighbors and waving to everyone who passed by.
Joan was an avid Scrabble and Mahjong player, her competitive spirit always shining through. She loved sitting around the kitchen table playing a game of Farkle or cards with her family. Her beloved grandchildren called her Oma, and shared her love of games. Family reunions each summer at her house were treasured times.
A private family memorial will be held to celebrate Joan's life.
