

Alfred was born on June 4, 1935, to Herman and Dora (Hoins) Otte and grew up in rural Columbus, NE, where he was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church.
His life’s journey took him from the farm in Nebraska to California, then to Louisiana, then to South Carolina and ultimately to retire in North Carolina. As a young man he farmed the family farm near Columbus, Nebraska. In California he worked for Rohr Aircraft in an aircraft assembly position. In later years he worked in a Civil Service position at the Air Force Satellite Test Center located in Sunnyvale, California. In Louisiana he worked for a heavy equipment rental facility and then in South Carolina at a Duke nuclear power plant. Upon his retirement he moved to a country home in North Carolina.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service that will be held October 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 3525 Rogers Road, Wake Forest, NC, with Pastor Devin Murphy officiating.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on October 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery 32392 122nd Avenue, Columbus, NE with Pastor William Voelker officiating.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Susan Otte; daughter, Linda (Douglas) Knudson of Warrenton, NC; sons, Dean (Adrianne) Otte of Livermore, CA and Douglas Otte of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Ted (Sharon) Otte of Columbus, NE; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dora Otte; son, David Otte; grandson, David Otte, Jr.; sisters, Dolores Schmidt and Dorothy Kamtz; brother, Herman Otte Jr.; and step-son, Erenio Favor DeVera.
