Zelda B. Levine, 85, of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Dunewood (Fire island) New York and Boca Raton, Florida passed away on July 21, 2017. She had a personality that filled any room and a wonderful sense of humor. She was loved by so many and her presence will be missed. A Memorial service will be held on Sunday July 23, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Temple Beth El, 333 SW 4th Ave, Boca Raton, FL. Shiva will begin immediately following the service at the home of Doctors Larry and Audrey Levine, 6095 NW 32nd Ave. (The Seasons) Boca Raton, FL. Zelda was born on April 2, 1932 to Irving and Faye Mermer in Yonkers, NY. As a leader in the Yonkers community, she was President of the PTA at School 23 and Executive Director of the Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League - where the championship trophy is named in her honor. She was a nationally ranked amateur tennis player from age 40 through her 70's. Zelda played out of New Rochelle Tennis Club. "Zellie" was the self-appointed "honorary Mayor" of Dunewood Fire Island and was loved by all the residents. For several decades in Dunewood, she enjoyed teaching thousands of junior tennis players. Zelda lived with husband Norman at the Polo Club in Boca Raton. Zelda is survived by her husband Norman Levine, sons Larry and Andy Levine, daughter in-law Audrey Levine, grandchildren Melissa, Jaclyn, Elizabeth, Alex, Justin and Emily Levine.
