Ginnie was born on May 10, 1940, in Queens, New York, the second daughter of five children, to the late Robert and Marie Barnes. Her parents moved their family to East Meadow on Long Island when Ginnie was approximately 13 years old. She married Vinnie, the love of her life, in 1960 and they eventually moved their family to Massapequa, New York. She became a single mother and continued to independently raise her three children on Long Island until making the brave decision to relocate to Palm Harbor, Florida in 1989. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother and lived a life marked by strength and deep devotion to her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first daughter, Dawn Maria Valentino, her former husband Vincent Valentino, and her two sisters, who were also her bestest friends, Barbara and Dottie.
She is survived by two daughters, Dana Lucas (Richard), of Trinity, Florida and Gina Bochenek (Jeff Porreca) of Stuart Florida; her two twin brothers Bud and Rick, whom she adored, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, along with many other family members who will sadly miss her.
Virginia touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selflessness, warmth, hard work, humor and her generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that lives on in all of us. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
The family has decided not to have a public service at this time. In Ginnie's spirit and memory, the family asks that you consider performing a random act of kindness.
