He was born September 7, 1950, in Chipley, FL, son of Theron Henry and Quida Ruth Justice Cook, Sr., who preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Teresa(Terri) Brown, February 25, 2005, in Plantation, FL.
Mr. Cook proudly served in the US Army/Military Police in Korea and Viet Nam. Following his military time, he served as a Deputy in Washington County, FL and then became a Florida Highway Patrol Officer in Broward County, FL. Later, he was the Director of Safety for AIG Insurance on construction projects, which eventually led to his final position as an independent safety consultant. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, and American Legion Post 321.
Survivors include one son, Gary Cook, Roswell, GA; daughter Mindy Cook Tanner Smith, Umatilla, FL and bonus daughters Amber Reul, Chelsea, AL and Nicole Mason, Sunrise, FL; grandchildren, Amber Evans, Steven Hopler, Kennedy Cook, Grant Cook, Reagan Cook, Mikayla, Reul, Henry Reul, Riley Mason, and Logan Mason. One granddaughter, Madison Cook, preceded him in death: great-grandchildren, Kellin, Evan, Maci Ann, Clair Ruth, and Charlotte Madison. Siblings Sharon Cook, Panama City, FL; Carlton Cook, Tallahassee, FL; and Nancy Cook, Birmingham, AL.
Theron and his wife, Teresa, had a love of travel. While on a cruise to St. Thomas, they traveled to the highest point of the island and were the only people at the top, they believed they had the world in their hands, just Theron and Teresa. Their song, “The Dance” was truly exemplified that day as the world faded away leaving just the two of them.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service, honoring Theron will be on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 1pm at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Port St. Lucie, FL.
The family has requested no flowers, rather donations, if desired, to the Cornerstone Baptist Church or American Legion Post 321, Port St. Lucie, FL.
