Susan Michelle Cochran, 48, Jensen Beach, Florida was called home to Christ way too early on November 8, 2023, where she passed peacefully at home. She was born on March 17, 1975, to Charles W. Lockridge and Elizabeth C. (Eagle) Lockridge at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
Susan lived in many places growing up as part of an Air Force family, but eventually found a home in Indianapolis, IN. It was here she worked as a hostess at the Omni Hotel and met her husband, Brad. Susan was proud of her position and was tickled to have met several celebrities: the most memorable having escorted Prince and his crew to the Presidential Suite.
Susan and Brad married in September 1999 and shortly thereafter moved to Louisville, KY. It was here that their oldest daughter Jessica Taylor was born. A short five years later, they headed to the sunshine and warm beaches of Florida where they put down permanent roots and had their second daughter Meghan Olivia.
Susan’s personality could capture a room and her sense of humor is what her parents remember most fondly. After dinner, sitting around swapping stories, is where Susan’s presence will be missed the greatest. She was always quick with a joke, gently needling her sisters at every opportunity, and always made sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. She was quick with her comebacks and as a middle child, balanced being an older and younger sister with snark and humor.
Her daughters have many fond memories of attending the yearly Martin County Fair, Jensen Beach Pineapple Festival, and other events throughout the year. Susan was always a kid herself, entertaining them with games, face painting and other treats her daughters enjoyed. They will also cherish their annual Black Friday shopping excursions as Susan was ever the bargain hunter.
Susan was an avid cat lover, always having at least one to call her own, and fostered forty cats over her time volunteering. She would spend countless hours socializing them and working hard to get them ready for adoption. She did such an exceptional job, her adoption rate was close to 100%, a true testament to her patience and perseverance with some feisty felines.
In addition to her love for animals Susan had a genuine love for anyone in need. Susan had a giving nature and was known to purchase gifts for those she felt needed a little help or just a smile. She had a lighthearted spirit of love, kindness, encouragement, and was very gentle with everyone around her. She certainly knew how to light up God’s world.
Susan loved a cozy house, filling it with candles and wonderful cooking and baking smells. She was passionate about baking and loved trying new recipes. She enjoyed challenges and would make and remake a recipe until she perfected it. A true testament to her generosity was sharing all these delicious treats with friends and family. Susan always had a sweet tooth herself, and never missed a chance to try out any new candy and always had some to share.
Susan had a knack for numbers and computers, spending many years in doctor’s offices doing coding and billing. Always passionate about learning new things, she recently earned her Registered Pharmacy Technician license so she could stay in the medical field and continue to help people.
Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Louise (Feierabend) Lockridge, Jess and Betty (Shawlot) Eagle, and her sister Amy (Lockridge) Vinson. She is survived by her husband Bradley Cochran, daughters Jessica and Meghan Cochran, her parents, Bill and Beth Lockridge, sister Cindy (Lockridge) Long, uncle Robert Lockridge and many beloved nephews and nieces and in-laws.
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2450 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.
