Who Passed Away on September 16, 2019 with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Cooleyville, Massachusetts on May 30, 1925 (Memorial Day).
Ruth's Notable History:
Ruth was very proud to have been born on Memorial Day. During the war she served her country by working at the Springfield Armory inspecting weapons. She met and married the love of her life, Stanley Blanchard Loomis, on March 13, 1948, in the West Springfield Congressional Church. After their wedding, they lived in Chester, Pennsylvania, while her husband attended photography school. Upon graduation, they returned to Massachusetts and built their own house before deciding to move to Florida, where they lived for 62 years.
Four children were blessed to have her as their Mother. Once all of her children were in school, Ruth worked part-time for the Broward School District in the cafeteria starting as a part-time general worker and later as the cook. She retired in 1986 at the same time her husband retired, and together they enjoyed a very active retirement, traveling to see family and friends, playing tennis, enjoying hobbies, and continuing to help their four children who were then adults.
Prior to her marriage, her passion was roller skating – she not only enjoyed the dances but performing acrobatics as well. She loved square dancing with her husband, playing tennis, playing games with family and friends, making puzzles and learning numerous crafts such as upholstery, macramae, latch-hooking, and stained-glass, to name a few.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Darlene Loomis of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Patricia Diane Loomis of Pompano Beach, FL, beloved daughter-in-law, Diane Helen Wittlinger Loomis of Wellborn, FL, her sister, Louise Withee Rogerson of Enfield, CT, brothers Donald F. Withee of West Springfield, MA and Stewart Withee of Agawam, MA, her sister-in-law, Roberta Loomis Robinson, Silverdale, Washington, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who she considered part of her extended family.
