Ruby was born and raised in Long Island, NY, to Holocaust survivors Fred and Regina Clipper, née Rosenzweig.
She graduated from SUNY Albany and received her Master’s from the University of Houston, Texas, where she met her husband, James Cherof, with whom she moved to Fort Lauderdale to pursue a career as a speech pathologist and to start a family.
Ruby made friends everywhere she went, first working in the Broward County school system, and later in Admissions at Pine Crest School.
A dedicated mother, she is remembered by all who met her for her iconic curly blonde hair, bright smile, and her sunny, outgoing disposition.
Ruby was a lifelong lover of the arts, especially musical theatre, and of pastries from her childhood as the daughter of a baker.
Ruby is survived by her husband, James; her son, Aaron; her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Todd; her grandchildren, Margot and Max; her devoted sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Ronald Schagrin, her younger brother, Andrew; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
