Roger was born on October 14, 1943 in Miami, FL and remained a resident of Florida his entire life. As a Veteran of the United States Air force, Roger served our nation well. He continued his life with a career with The Seaboard Coast Line / Amtrak Railroad for 4 decades until his retirement.
Roger who loved God and country was a dedicated family man; he was a loving son, husband and father so much that his daughter lovingly refers to Roger as “her first hero”. His hobbies included nature, exotic birds, and horticulture. Roger loved his birds Sam and Annie and was an active member in various bird and plant clubs. As a friend of Bill W, Roger achieved over 39 years of sobriety along with his helping others with their Journey. He was preceded in death by his father Leslie Sasser, his mother Ruth Sasser, his first wife of 18 years, Vilma Sasser and his second wife of 37 years, Elsie R. Sasser.
Roger was loved, he is survived by his loving family. Daughter Melissa Jewell, his sons, Billy and Rod, his granddaughter, Michelle, grandson Michael, great grandson Caleb, and Roger’s sister Sandra. All of which he was very proud of and loved dearly.
