Born on September 26, 1946, Rodney was the son of the late Ruby and A. Reid Bayliff. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, carrying that sense of dedication and responsibility with him throughout his life. He later enjoyed a successful career working for the government as a bank auditor.
Rodney was strong, stubborn, determined, —and those who loved him wouldn’t have had him any other way. He faced life on his own terms, right up until the very end. Beneath that toughness was a man who loved his family fiercely. His children and grandchildren were his greatest pride, and being surrounded by the people he loved meant everything to him.
Rodney knew how to enjoy life. He loved sports, Jimmy Buffett, cruise ships, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Florida Keys. Whether it was the sound of a Jimmy Buffett song, the excitement of a game, being out on the water, setting sail on another cruise, or enjoying the laid-back feeling of the Keys, these were the things that made Rodney happy. They will forever bring a smile—and probably a story—to those who knew him best.
Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Bayliff; his daughter, Kelly Linder Johnson; his grandson, Dalton Linder; and his parents, Ruby and A. Reid Bayliff. There is great comfort in imagining Rodney reunited with Linda, Kelly, Dalton, and the loved ones who were waiting for him.
He is survived by his brother, Randy Bayliff, and Randy’s wife, Pattie Bayliff, and their children, Brandy Michael and Kristin Eagle.
Rodney also leaves behind his children and their families: son Bobby Lambert and his wife, Pat Lambert; son Todd Lambert and his wife, Brandy Lambert, and their children, Kade Lambert and Ella Rane Lambert; daughter Britan Hansen and her children, Mason Blake, Elijah Blake, Makiah Blake, and Ava Hansen; and son Randy Bayliff and his wife, Diane Bayliff, and their children, Kelly and Axel Bayliff. He is also survived by his grandson, Trey Linder.
Rodney gave his family a lifetime of love, support, guidance, and memories. His family will miss his presence, his stories, his stubborn determination, and simply knowing he was there. His influence will continue through his children and grandchildren and in the countless memories they will carry with them.
Rodney, thank you for a wonderful life filled with love, support, and guidance. You fought until the end, surrounded by love. Now it is time to rest.
Give Linda, Kelly, Dalton, and everyone waiting for you a hug from all of us. Watch over your family, and know that you will be loved, remembered, and missed every single day.
