Richard was a graduate of New York University. He served in the Army Reserves for six years. He loved to travel and turned this passion into a lifelong career in the airline industry. He spent many years with Eastern Airlines and later with Trans World Airlines, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues for his dedication, professionalism and deep knowledge of aviation. After retirement he and Jane continued the journey traveling to England, Ireland, Spain, France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Cruising became their preferred method of transportation.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Jane, his sons Stephen (Steve) and Christopher (Chris) Chris' wife, Eileen, daughter, Katherine (Kate) Sanabria and her husband, Amed. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Heather and Hunter Hanssen, Alyssa and Justin Sanabria.
Richard's legacy of love, kindness, coupled with his wonderful smile and sharp wit will always be remembered. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
