Rachel Ebert of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 15 at the age of 86. She was born on March 6, 1937, in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania where she grew up with her four younger siblings: Marlin Ebert, Carol Henderson, Susan Kaufman and Martha Ebert-Baum and her parents Stanley and Jane (née Heilman) Ebert.
After graduating from the Academy of the New Church in 1955, she began preparing for a long career in the medical field. Rachel graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Indiana University and the University of Arizona going from RN to BSN to Family Nurse Practitioner to MS in Occupational Health.
Rachel got her start in nursing in both hospital and family practice but ended her career as a corporate director of nursing at AT&T, Quaker Oats, Exxon, and Marriott. She spent her life as an advocate for wellness and after retirement was quite active in the Southeast Florida Chapter of the National Scleroderma Foundation.
Rachel loved the outdoors having spent her formative years exploring the woods surrounding her childhood home. She also loved the water and her activities ranged from gardening, tennis, boating, swimming, and biking. She and her husband, Dean Boyce, had a large circle of friends and enjoyed many outings in addition to domestic and international travel. She and Dean were committed members of their local church, the New Church of Boynton Beach. Most importantly, they both cherished their combined families and stayed interested and involved in their children’s and grandchildren’s lives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her father, mother, and brother.
She is survived by her children and their families: her son Ward Heinrichs, granddaughters Hannah, Eva, Maya, her son Grant Heinrichs, daughter-in-law Lisa, granddaughter Ryan, her husband Parker, their three children Kinley, Lainey and Baker, granddaughter Kathryn, her husband Josh, her daughter Kris Earle and husband, Rob, their children Beth, her husband Kyle, Colin and his partner Zoey, Jamie and his partner Kaitlyn.
Rachel is best known for her beautiful smile and her fun-loving, but direct nature. She was quite social and loved being with others. Rachel’s strength and courage opened many opportunities for her to be useful in her career and in the lives of her family. She had a strong moral compass, was compassionate and open-minded. Rachel has left a lasting legacy of living life fully to all those who love her and to those whose lives she touched.
The family would like to thank Betty, Marie Daniel, Franceline and Jessica for the care and compassion they showed Rachel in her final year. We are so very grateful for your understanding and support.
