Marilyn Marnett Greehan

Marilyn Marnett Greehan of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the age of 93. Born on June 23, 1933 in Norwich, Connecticut, Marilyn grew up in Stratford, Connecticut with her parents James and Margaret Marnett and her two sisters, Patricia and Margaret.

Marilyn graduated from Stratford High School in 1947. She graduated with a nursing degree from Massachusetts General Hospital, and later a degree in business from National Louis University. While in nursing school, she fell in love and then married Francis Greehan on October 23rd, 1954 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

She worked as a Registered Nurse for the National Institute of Heath, Director of Nursing in nursing facilities located both in Virginia and Florida, and as a volunteer school nurse. She was proud to maintain her nursing license well into her eighties.

As her children grew up, Marilyn was involved as a team mother and head of the Ladies Auxiliary at Springfield Little League, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield, Virginia. Marilyn loved baseball and was an enthusiastic fan cheering on her sons and grandsons.

Marilyn was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Boynton Beach. She was actively engaged on the Board of Directors and the Women’s Committee at Seagate of Gulfstream. She also volunteered at the Boynton Beach Police Department on Citizen Observer Patrol, and with the Security Committee of the Boynton Intracoastal Group.

In retirement, Fran and Marilyn enjoyed worldwide travel and spending summers at the beach in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. She also liked playing bridge with her sister, Pat, and friends at Seagate.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Greehan, and by her parents, James and Margaret Marnett, and her sister Patricia Auger. She is survived by her children Michael, David (Kim), Randall (Kate) and Steven (Cara Acosta), her grandchildren Laura (Eric Wallace), Alex, Jack, and Luke, her sister Margaret Peterson, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Tony Morton and LeeAnn Fiedorwicz for their genuine friendship, care and compassion which helped Marilyn continue to live independently in her condo at Seagate.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 643 E 4th Ave., Boynton Beach on Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11am.
