Marian S. (Mimi) Barnett of Palm Beach died January 30, 2017 at the age of 96 after a brief illness. Mimi was born July 9, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Herbert and Minna Spiesberger. She was the loving wife of the late Bernard H. (Barney) Barnett. She spent much of her adult life in Louisville, Kentucky and then Palm Beach, Florida. Mimi was active in various Jewish charities and causes related to Israel. She was a life member of Hadassah and a Lion of Judah. Throughout her life, she and Barney also spent time in Washington, D.C. and Jerusalem, holding residences at times. Mimi so loved visiting Israel and her friends there. When travel no longer became possible, she kept up with her friends through email and bridge games on the internet. Mimi was incredibly proficient on the computer well into her 90s, claiming that it, along with her daily glass of scotch, were responsible for keeping her mind sharp. She had a rich sense of humor. Mimi is survived by her three sons and their wives, Jean and Penny Friedberg of Columbia, Maryland; Howard and Gail Friedberg of Cleveland, Ohio; Charles and Sandra Barnett of Palm Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
