Margaret (Peggy) Gaiser of Delray Beach Florida passed away on Friday April 21, 2023 at the age of 82. She was born on December 7, 1940 in Philadelphia PA where she grew up in both Pennsylvania and Long Island NY.
Peggy worked full-time, managing a business and family as she went to school at night to graduate from Suffolk Community College with a paralegal degree.
Peggy and her husband George built the legendary Smithtown Auto Upholstery business (on Long Island NY) from a small 1 bay shop to a multi bay shop that serviced simple car interiors to specialized antique and custom auto interior restoration. The business grew and they added home upholstery which Peggy’s son Tom also specialized in. After her divorce from George, Peggy co- owned a successful messenger service on Long Island, Post Haste, with her long-time partner Lee Dodick. Peggy’s daughter, Karen, also worked with her at Post Haste. After moving to Florida, Peggy opened a Medical Transport business with her partner Lee.
Peggy was actively involved on Long Island with local business groups. When she moved to Florida Peggy volunteered at the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce, as well as volunteering at the local elementary school reading and assisting several classes. She was involved with her HOA community.
She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Gaiser
Peggy is survived by her daughter Karen Pobjecki and son in law Joseph Pobjecki, her granddaughter Kristina Oakley and her husband Donald Oakley, great grandson Carter Oakley. Grandsons Michael and Mark Gaiser and her daughter-in-law Isabel Gaiser. She is also survived by her brother Peter.
Peggy was found most days at her pool chatting with her friends, laughing and enjoying life. Peggy took great pride in her family and often bragged about them at the pool.
Peggy was a mentor and role model to her family and was a great friend to many. She touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and genuine caring. She was wise and witty; her family and friends will miss her.
