Manuel Barbosa Mauricio, born on February 27, 1937, in the Bronx, New York, to proud parents Jose and Emilia Mauricio, peacefully passed away in his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories. Manny, as he was affectionately known, was the eldest among his siblings, including Adelaide B. Carnaxide, Joseph B. Mauricio, Antonio B. Mauricio, and Linda B. Vallianos. Manny was the oldest and last surviving, a beacon of strength for his family.
Manny's journey began in the vibrant streets of the Bronx, where he navigated the vibrant tapestry of life as the eldest of five siblings. He embarked on his educational journey, graduating in the Bronx and then heeding the call to serve his nation. Enlisting in the Navy, he dedicated four years of his life, gaining valuable skills as an electrical engineer, setting the stage for an impactful career.
Following his honorable service in the Navy, Manny applied his engineering prowess and dedication to his work at Grumman, where he remained for over 35 years. His contributions were not only professionally significant but a testament to his enduring commitment and tenacity.
In the golden years of his life, Manny decided to chase the sun and embrace a life of leisure in Florida. He found joy in the gentle lapping of the waves, the camaraderie of the tennis court, and the warmth of the sun on his face. Amidst the palm trees and ocean breezes, he forged new friendships that soon became his extended family.
Among these cherished bonds was his profound relationship with his Aunt Marie Bambino and her husband Tony. Together, they formed an inseparable trio, seizing each moment and weaving a tapestry of unforgettable memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew them.
Manuel Barbosa Mauricio's journey on this earthly realm may have come to an end, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. Manny will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
A memorial service to celebrate Manny's life will be held at South Florida National Cemetery on Friday, October 27th 2023 at 2:30pm .
