

She graduated from Haverstraw High School where she was a member of the Proctor Squad, Drama Club, and Secretarial Club. She worked at Lederle Laboratories, Pearl River, New York; Finkelstein Memorial Library, Spring Valley, New York; and Oakwood Elementary School, Monsey, New York. She retired from Rockland Community College, Suffern, New York where she worked as a Payroll Administrator. She was a member of the Monsey Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Lillian was well known for her cooking and baking of holiday cookies, pierogies, Paska bread, eggplant parmigiana, and homemade pizza. She enjoyed shopping, puzzles, bowling, going to casinos, watching golf and had an unwavering devotion to friends. She had a great sense of humor, and she would often walk through the house whistling and singing while she cleaned and cooked. She had a love of animals and had many pets during her lifetime. She had a pet rooster as a young girl that would sit on her shoulder and protect her.
She met the love of her life, Stephen, at the Paramus Roller Rink in NJ and they married on May 9th,1954 and had five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Smolley, her twin sister Catherine Mutinsky, and sister Margaret Robinson.
Lillian is survived by her five children JoAnn Mann, Laurie Remaley (Brian), Debra Smolley, Stephanie Conklin, Maureen Terelle (James), nine grandchildren; Shannon, Crystol, Stephen (Kayla), James, Brianne (Bryan), Timothy, John (Laura), Jimmy, Jenna, seven great grandchildren; Benjamin, Kayla, Malachi, Stephanie, Devante`, Kiera, and Finnegan, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She will leave behind many wonderful memories that were shared with lifelong friends.
Services will be held on October 24, 2026 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 28 Chapel Street, Garnerville, New York 10923 at 1:00 PM, with burial service to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, U.S. Rt 9W/U.S. Rt 202, Haverstraw, New York 10927 and repast to follow at Patriot Lounge, Patriot Hills Golf Club, 19 Clubhouse Lane, Stony Point, New York 10980.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or your local animal shelter or ASPCA.
