Joseph A Torres

August 8, 1943 – August 7, 2026

Joseph “Joe” A. Torres, beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2026, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, just one day shy of his 83rd birthday.

Born on August 8, 1943, in Puerto Rico to the late Felicita and Abraham Torres, Joe lived a life defined by faith, service, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in Vietnam, and spent seven years in active military service. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his military service, he built a career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement.

Retirement never meant slowing down for Joe. He remained active in his community, serving as Vice President of his homeowners association and participating in the local police department’s Senior Watch program. He was also a man who loved to challenge himself and enjoy life. He earned a black belt in karate, ran the New York City Marathon, practiced Tai Chi for many years, and loved playing bocce.

Those who knew Joe will remember his sense of humor, his caring nature, his strong faith, and his ability to make people laugh. He was a man of God who genuinely cared about others and was always looking out for the people around him.

Above all else, Joe loved his family.

At the center of his world was his beloved wife, Anna Libia Salado. His love and devotion to Anna were extraordinary. He lived for her, cared for her, and loved her completely. Even in his final moments, it was her name that he called, a beautiful and heartbreaking reflection of just how deeply he loved her.

Joe was a loving father to Lisbelia Plastina and Alejandro Rizik, and a proud grandfather to Massimo, Mila, and Enzo Plastina.

Joe lived nearly 83 years with strength, determination, humor, faith, and love. He served his country, his community, and most importantly, his family. His absence will be deeply felt, but the laughter, lessons, conversations, and love he leaves behind will remain with those who loved him forever.

A life of service. A life of faith. A life of laughter. And, above all, a life of love.
