Joe was born on February 20, 1953 along with his twin brother John L. Rzepka in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph J. Rzepka & Patricia M. Burns. Joe grew up in Redford, Michigan along with his brother and six sisters. Growing up, Joe loved music, sports and was a dedicated student at the Detroit Country Day School. While there, he played football, basketball, and baseball and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1972. He went on to graduate from the University of Michigan in 1976 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting.
Joe met his future wife, Catherine “CC” Conrad in 1973 with the help of his sister Kathleen “Kiki.” The two shared a long courtship and married in August of 1980. Joe’s career as a certified public accountant moved the family around the country as he ascended the corporate ladder, eventually serving as a Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at various companies. As Joe & CC moved to Washington D.C., Florida, Texas, Michigan, and eventually Georgia, their family grew. They welcomed their first child, Mark in 1982, followed by Michelle in 1985, and some time later, their daughter Erica in 1992. Joe was a dedicated family man through and through - coaching sports teams, attending games and performances, and helping his children through every move.
Throughout his life, his love of athletics and music continued. Joe played on various softball teams and was an avid cyclist and tennis player. He entertained family & friends by playing the saxophone and accordion. At the insistence of his wife, he was a reluctant world traveler- taking trips across the globe. But no matter where life took them, Joe’s heart always resided in Lexington, Michigan where the family spent their summers enjoying Lake Huron, the A&W, and endless family yard parties.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Patricia Rzepka, his brother John Rzepka, and his sisters Kathleen “Kiki” Van Lacken, and Margaret “Peggy” Stencel. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Catherine “CC” Conrad Rzepka, his three children: Mark Rzepka, Michelle Rzepka, and Erica (Ryan) Bowersox; and his grandson, Conrad Mite-Rzepka. He is also survived by siblings: Janet Rzepka, Sue (Steve) Bombard, Judy Gaw, and Patti (Cam) Comire along with his numerous nieces and nephews. Joe’s life was filled with personal and professional accomplishments, love, and adventure. He was loved by all who knew him, and it is rumored that he had fun once.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Benedict’s church in Johns Creek, GA on January 30th, 2026 at 10:30 in the morning with a reception to follow.
