January 3, 1939 – April 13, 2018
Jack Tracey, a native of Orange, New Jersey, was the son of Edward Morrison Tracey and Margaret Cecile Watson Tracey. He learned his father’s plastering trade and after moving to Pompano Beach, Florida, he founded Tracey Plastering and, later, Gulfstream Plastering. Jack was a true craftsman who used his experience in construction and restoration to build and/or rehabilitate numerous churches, commercial buildings as well as single family homes.
As he neared retirement, Jack co-founded Real Estate Education and Community Housing, Inc. For seven years, he served as President and Project Manager of the HUD approved, non-profit and was still serving as a member of the Advisory Board at the time of his death. He assisted with the repair and renovation of over 225 homes in Florida that were made available to low and moderate income families received through this organization.
Jack enjoyed deep-sea fishing, boating, swimming and photography. He became a Christian as an adult and used his skills and talents to serve the Lord. He served as a Deacon at Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church in Port Orange, Florida and was a past member of Sand Harbor PCA in Jupiter, Florida. At the time of his death, Jack was a member of Granada Presbyterian Church in Coral Gables.
Jack Tracey is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Patricia Mullis Tracey and three daughters: Tiffany Berkshire Iraheta (Mario), Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Tracey, and Susan Elizabeth Tracey as well as grandchildren: Mario Andres Iraheta, Enzo Johvanni Iraheta, Patsy Tracey Hernandez (Scott), Tyler Tracey and Kenneth Chism; and two great grandchildren: Jude Tracey and Gage Tracey. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Calabrese and brothers Richard Tracey (Barbara Jean) and Paul Tracey, many special nieces and nephews and three God-children: Cheri Tracey Butler, Matthew Berkshire and Janina Brucksch.
Jack’s life was a tribute to the God he served and to the family he loved.
