A graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jocelia went on to serve her community through her work in the Police Communications Department for the City of Fort Lauderdale. She took pride in helping others and carried that same spirit of service into every aspect of her life.
Jocelia had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She gave selflessly of her time, lovingly creating quilts for those experiencing homelessness, bringing comfort and hope to countless individuals. Her generosity, gentle nature, and unwavering love for others will be remembered always.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joseph Thomas and Cecelia (Shirk) Holcomb, Stepfather Ernie Holcomb, and her cherished son, Daniel Fittin.
Her lifelong search for her missing daughter
On the evening of August 1, 1975, Teresa Lyn Fittin left her apartment on Davie Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after an argument with her boyfriend. She told him she was going out to her car to calm down. She drove away in her greenish-gray 1966 Nash Rambler, displaying Florida license plate 1061425, and was never seen again.
More than five decades have passed, yet Teresa’s disappearance remains an open wound for the family and friends who have never stopped searching for answers. Every passing year brings another birthday missed, another holiday without her, and another reminder that someone they love never came home.
Teresa may have gone by the nickname “Bunny.” If you knew her, remember seeing her, or have any information—no matter how small or insignificant it may seem—it could be the missing piece that finally brings answers and peace to those who have carried this heartbreak for so many years.
Please help keep Teresa’s story alive. Someone, somewhere, knows what happened. Her family deserves the truth, and Teresa deserves to be remembered and brought home.
Jocelia leaves behind her loving daughter, Michelle Travisano, a grandson, Michael Pozorski Jr and granddaughter Maria Gabrielle Pozorski, along with many dear friends whose lives were enriched by her friendship and compassion.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff at Broward General Hospital for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion they provided during Jocelia’s final days. Their support and comfort meant more than words can express.
A Memorial Service celebrating Jocelia’s life will be held in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, with details to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Jocelia’s honor to the Humane Society of your choice, reflecting her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
Though she will be deeply missed, Jocelia’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A special thank you to Lauri Sims-Alaimo and Nancy DePalma for the love, kindness, and unwavering friendship you shared with Jocelia throughout her life. Your support meant so much to her, not only during her final days, but through out the many years you stood by her side.
