Joan Mariutto of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the age of 84. She was born on June 10, 1938 in the Bronx, NY where she grew up in an apartment with her parents and two sisters.
Joan graduated from St. Helena’s Catholic School in 1956, and married William (Bill) Mariutto on September 5, 1959. During her 63-year marriage, she would live in 9 different states and more than 14 different homes. Joan, a fierce and skillful negotiator, handled the family’s home and automobile purchases until her stroke in 2017.
In 1974, Joan earned her Real Estate license in Huntsville, AL. In 1976, the Mariutto’s relocated to Wellington, Florida, and as one of the first families in that community, Joan was actively involved with the Welcome Wagon, pioneered the Bridge Club, and provided support to the Wellington Club Swim Team, often timing races and shuttling swimmers to area swim meets, until 1981.
Joan was a highly motivated and skilled Product/Sales Representative at The Drawing Board and Richardson-Vicks. After retirement, Joan returned to her love of painting, and spent several years creating oil landscapes that adorn the walls of family and dear friends. She continued to play bridge and was active in the Wellington Senior’s Club until 2018, when she and Bill relocated to Cumming, GA, where Joan finally lived near her beloved sisters.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Rosalia and Baldassare Longo, and her precious niece, Jessica Bennett.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, children Tammy and Robin, and dearest sisters, Agatha and Roberta.
