Jewel Loretta Curley, daughter of Frank and Beatrice Pfeiffer, passed away on March 5, 2025 at the age of 91 in her home located in Lantana, Florida. She was born on October 28, 1933 in Saint Louis, Missouri where she grew up. Jewel met her husband, Jerry Curley, in St. Louis during her first year of college. Jewel and Jerry were married in St. Louis where they also had their first two children, Debi and Laura. In 1960, Jewel’s family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they had two more children, Joe and Greg. Jewel and Jerry remained in St. Petersburg into retirement. A few years after Jerry passed in 2012, Jewel moved to south Florida into Carlisle Senior Living Palm Beach to be closer to her two sons and their families who lived nearby.
Jewel worked as an administrative professional throughout her adult life to help support the family. She worked at the St. Petersburg Catholic Diocese. She obtained her real estate license and worked in residential sales for Century 21 and in her husband, Jerry’s, commercial real estate office. She later obtained a nursing home administrator’s certification and worked at a nursing home in St. Petersburg.
Jewel was actively involved in volunteering for the Saint Vincent DePaul Society providing relief to struggling families and individuals for many years. She also enjoyed volunteering in her local church with youth groups. Jewel loved music and enjoyed singing in choirs at her local church, with her family, and she also helped organize a singing group at Carlisle Senior Living. Jewel also had a special artistic gift which she beautifully expressed through her prolific acrylic paintings, and continued to create up until the time that God called her home.
