Herb Lucas of Port St. Lucie, FL passed away on January 11, 2024 at the age of 74. He was born in Mt. Holly, NJ. Grew up in Rancocas Heights area of Hainesport, NJ enjoying the creek and nature as a child and young man. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a man of many talents always striving to do better. He was a maintenance man, then went to school for computer programming. He was a Computer Programmer with CSC in Moorestown, then SDC in Va. Beach and San Diego. In 1983 after catching a sailfish, he moved to Fort Lauderdale where he got his Captains License while continuing to work as a computer programmer and starting a fishing charter business on the weekends. In 1987 he moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where he changed careers and became owner in a Cabinet company and eventually adding Granite to his business (Granite and Cabinetry by Lucas). He was a member of the Stuart Corvette Club for many years. He retired in 2008 and continued with his other passion: cruising. He had taken over 300 cruises, most of them with Royal Caribbean, traveling the world.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Ellerson Lucas, a sister, Ronna Lynn Alloway and her husband, William Wissler, and many wonderful cousins and friends. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, one may choose to make a donation in his honor to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
