Gerald M. “Jerry” Spigel, of Delray Beach, Florida; passed away on April 26, 2025, at Delray Medical Center at age 85. He passed peacefully with family and dear friends at his side after waging a courageous fight and receiving excellent medical care while hospitalized during the month of April.
Jerry was born on July 3, 1939, in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Cranston High School in 1957. He studied at Bryant College and then Northeastern University earning an associate’s degree in business. He served in the United States Army from 1960 -1964 earning an honorable discharge. Jerry credited his parents influence and his military service for instilling in him the discipline, organization, and attention to detail which would lead to his successful career as a salesman in the Industrial Fasteners Market. Most notably he spent two and a half decades employed by Bostitch in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Following his relocation to Florida, he worked primarily for J & E Fasteners in West Palm Beach. Working in sales, and the social interactions with customers and colleagues it entailed, brought him much satisfaction. Jerry continued working in some capacity until shortly prior to his final hospitalization. Over the course of his long career, Jerry made many contacts, customers, colleagues, and friends. When not working, Jerry enjoyed playing golf and bocci, taking walks, or just sitting in his favorite chair on his lanai and reading. The Florida climate and lifestyle suited him. Everything Jerry did was guided by one primary motivating force: his profound love and devotion to his wife of 51 years.
Jerry is predeceased by his father, Morris “Murray” Spigel and his mother, Anna Spigel (Drazen). He is survived by his wife, Lynn Spigel; his brother Robert Spigel (Donna); and sons Brian Spigel (Christine) and Jason Neiwert. His eight grandchildren were a great source of pride: Rachel Spigel, Nadine Spigel, Joshua Spigel, Benjamin Spigel, Connor Swain, Tyler Swain, Desiree Lima, and Brandon Neiwert. He also leaves behind nephews Todd Spigel and Adam Spigel.
A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL. The date and time are pending, and this web page will be updated when the information is available.
