Elizabeth (Lish) Collins Alexander Wilcoxson, 88, graduated into glory on July 21, 2018, surrounded by her son and daughter. She was born on April 30, 1930 in Milton, Massachusetts to R. P. Collins and Marjorie Chambers.
She grew up in Milton with three older sisters and one younger brother. Her life was filled with boating. She also played field hockey and the piano. She studied at Colby Jr. College where she completed an associate’s degree in secretarial administration. She was an avid collector of anything lighthouse!
She was married in 1952 to Carl E. Alexander. Together they raised three children and moved to Plantation Florida in 1955. Along with being wife and mother, she worked alongside her husband as office manager and bookkeeper for their business. She also was the pastor’s secretary at the former First Baptist Church of West Hollywood where her family worshipped for many years.
In 1977, she married Douglas G. Wilcoxson and they relocated to Lighthouse Point, FL and later to Fort Pierce, FL. She and Doug enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, and spending their summers in North Carolina. She also worked alongside Doug as office manager and bookkeeper for a specialty advertising business.
After the death of her precious Doug, she relocated again to The Sheridan at Pembroke Pines where she became very active in her new community. She enjoyed her role as a Resident Ambassador for The Sheridan. She had recently been elected Secretary of the Residents Board and also facilitated a weekly Bible Study.
Lish was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas G. Wilcoxson, her son, Carl E. Alexander Jr. (Rick), her sisters, Patricia Sargent, Marjorie Nichols and Jane Martin, her step son, Charles Wilcoxson, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Lish is survived by her daughter, Lee (Gregg) Maynard of Montgomery, TX, and her son Jeff (Susan) Alexander of Pembroke Pines, FL. Her brother, Harvey Collins of Massachusetts, survives her. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Robert (Celeste) Wilcoxson of Driggs, Idaho, Debra (Russell) Seefried of Davie, FL, Susan (Charles) Allee of Gainesville, FL and Laura (Bradley) Treliving of Fort Lauderdale, FL. In addition, 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren survive her.
A celebration of her life will be held at The Sheridan at Cooper City, 2580 S. Pine Island Road, Cooper City, FL on Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 PM. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
