Edward Dale Aebischer passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15th at TrustBridge hospice in Jupiter, Florida. He was born October 22, 1936, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Dale Charles Aebischer and Leah Bliss Aebischer. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 1958, with a major in physics, and from University of Wisconsin, Madison, with as Masters degree in communications. He worked for various scientific and educational institutions in the field of public information. At the end of his career he found his most joyful vocation working with grant programs at University of Tennessee and Georgia Tech, helping to recruit promising engineering students who would not otherwise have had a pathway to a college education. He loved creating partnerships with classrooms, teachers, and international students.
His professional associations included the Public Relations Society of America, and Sertoma. He loved volunteering with the Boys Club of America, and Boy Scouts of America. In retirement he enjoyed life-long learning with Elder Hostel and Road Scholars. He was a committed member and volunteer of Lutheran congregations for his entire life, most recently Good Shepherd Lutheran in Woodstock, Georgia. He was a lifelong and passionate Tennessee Volunteer fan. One of his proudest accomplishments was to coach a scruffy crew of 10 year olds from Grace Lutheran Church, Oak Ridge, TN, to an unlikely championship in the local 1970 church league softball championship. He then retired from coaching while he was on top!
He is survived by his wife, Judith Aebischer, a sister, Carole Shand (Sherman) from Minneapolis, MN, two sons, Paul (Ginny) Aebischer and David Aebischer, a daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Manchek, seven grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1208 Rose Creek Dr., Woodstock, Georgia 30189.
