Charles H King
March 22, 1930 - June 21, 2019
Charles H. King of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on June 21, 2019 at the age of 89. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harry King and Martha (Nauman) King. Charlie was a graduate of Sewanhaka High School and Hofstra College. He served in the United States Navy Reserve and later in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. While living on Long Island in Miller Place and Port Jefferson, Charlie was president of the PTA, a member of Kiwanis and deacon of the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church.
Throughout the years, he loved spending time with his family boating, fishing, ice skating, playing cards, roller skating, bowling, travelling to England, and playing golf. After moving from Long Island to Boca Raton in Florida, Charlie was a member of the Pioneers of Southern Bell, where several times a year he ran golf tournaments to raise funds for Insight for the Blind and Muscular Dystrophy. After his retirement from Southern Bell, Charlie joined his wife, Bernice (Bunny) King in their real estate company, Bunny King Realty. They were a successful team and were well respected for their professionalism, knowledge, and warmth they extended to all.
Most important to Charlie was his wife and partner for over 66 years, the late Bernice Mae Jordan King. They had a beautiful, loving marriage and life together. Charlie was a loving father to son Robert Charles King and wife Lauren of Georgia, daughter Debra Ann Slack and husband Robert of Connecticut, daughter Pamela Jean Shahmohammadi and husband Bahman of Florida, and daughter Patricia Anne Link of Florida. Charlie’s love extended to his eight grandchildren, Heather Aikey, Jennifer Forrest, Robert Slack, Matthew Slack, Sarah Slack, Taraneh Wyre, Armond Shahmohammadi, and Grace King, as well as his twelve great-grandchildren.
*Whenever you asked Charlie how he was, his simple response said so much, “Fantastic!” His generous heart and enthusiasm for life will not be forgotten.
Charlie will be laid to rest at the National Veterans Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
