Barbara I Magie

Barbara Isabelle Magie, age 83, passed away on May 13, 2023, in West Palm Beach, FL. Born on December 1, 1939, in Port Jervis, NY, Barbara was the daughter of the late Dorothy Hulse Magie and Edward Ray Magie. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Eugene and Brian Magie, sisters Marlene Magie and Carol Wells, and her adopted sister, Annie Root.

Barbara was an amazing woman, described by those who loved her as bright, articulate, opinionated, obstinate and a real ball buster. She was an athlete, playing semi-pro softball as a young woman and later becoming an avid golfer. While working, Barb also coached basketball at Lindenhurst High School, leading the Lindy Bulldogs to many Local and State Championships. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed reading and watching mystery movies and playing golf, Barbara dedicated 35 years of her life to education, working as a teacher, dean, and guidance director. She worked at Longwood Schools, Lindenhurst Schools on Long Island, NY, and retired from Islip Schools in 1995. Her passion for education touched the lives of many with whom she has remained close.

Barbara is survived by her loving wife of 40 years, Meredith Wolf, and many nieces and nephews, including Rhonda and Jeff Hoag, Kerri and Adam Brush, Brendon Hoag; Billy and Tracey Cobey, Kaitlynn, Anthony, and Alexander; Dani Wall, Anderson Wall, Domenic Wall; Brad and Tracey Magie, Rory Magie, and Angelina Magie.

There will be no service planned for Barbara, but those who wish to honor her memory can make a contribution to TrustBridge or any charity of their choice.
