Arnold was the founder of Artisan Tile & Marble, Inc in New Jersey, but followed his parents to South Florida by moving his wife Bunnie, son Arnold III and daughters Melissa (Missy) and Pamela- so he could open a new branch in Jupiter.
Arnold loved the ocean, boating, fishing and scuba diving on his beloved boat the “Uncle Ed”. He loved to gamble and played Texas Hold ‘Em poker regularly. Arnold and Bunnie took up golf after their three children left home and had a large community of friends and family. They golfed all over the world including Scotland, Montana and the Dominican Republic. Arnold continued to golf after Bunnie passed away in 2015 until he was no longer physically able to swing a club. He had a love/hate relationship with the game and proudly/ruefully said that he had the highest handicap of all the members of his all-male golf group the “Sharks”.
Arnold is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bunnie, his dear younger sister Peggy, his brother-in-law Bob, his parents Arnold & Lucretia and his daughter-in-law, Cammy. He is survived by his three children: Arnold III, Melissa (Missy) and Pam, his three grandchildren: Mika, Cio and Dash, his son-in-law Robert as well as his older sister Kiki and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews and so on!. Many people loved Arnold.
Arnold was one-of-a-kind- handsome, successful, hard working, patient, funny and irreverent. Arnold was always ready with a helping hand to anyone who needed it and impacted the lives of many in a positive way. In his younger days, the 6 foot 6 inch intimidating giant of a man with the warmest smile ever- Arnold was affectionately known as "Big Arn. Later upon the passing of his own father/the patriarch of the family clan for whom he was named, Arnold Michael Hess Senior, Arnold II's moniker became “Grandpa Fish”. He was the best dad, father-in-law, husband, uncle, grandfather and friend that ever was. Arnold always said, "You only live once, but if you do it right- once is enough." Arnold did it right.
The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to assuage our sadness with condolences, funny stories and wonderful memories of Arnold. A celebration of life has not yet been planned but will likely be towards the end of the year. We wish you all peace, health and happiness.
