He was born on March 30th, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, where he grew up with his three younger sisters. He attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables and received a degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
He worked in many capacities throughout his lifetime, but most notably as a manufacturer’s representative in the furniture industry. Upon his retirement, Alan joined his father in the Vista Pines community in Stuart.
Alan had many interests in life. He was an avid fisherman, an accomplished cook and bartender, and a blues musician. He was the Klinke family historian. While serving in the United States Army during the 1960’s, he became enamored with Japanese culture after visiting the island and he had long planned to return. Alan was known throughout the Vista Pines community for his sense of humor, his karaoke skills, and his love of painting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Klinke.
He is survived by his son Robert W. Klinke and daughter-in-law Monica of River Forest, Illinois, son Jeffrey A. Klinke of Washington, Illinois; grandchildren Elisabeth Peters (Chris) of Arlington Heights, Illinois and Robert J. Klinke of Chicago, Illinois; sisters Linda Steckel of Prospect Heights, Illinois, Karen Klinke of Evanston, Illinois, and Donna Jennrich of Lincoln, California; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Noriko Kimura.
The family would like to thank Solaris Parkway Health Care and Treasure Coast Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Alan in his final days. A Celebration of Life is being planned.
